What do you think about Land Rover launching a hydrid Freelander 2? Some of the enviromentelists may pass it of as a fad as they have done with veggie oil, but they do praise the Toyota Prius!!! This does however hail a new era for Land Rover – One in which they reduce there fuel consumtion with each new model and with the new extra light Range Rover under development this trend should continue.

What are your new years resolutions?

One of mine is to post on here once a week or more

How ever a far bigger one is what will the people at Land Rover’s resolution be? – Well I don’t think they will have much of one as it is all in the hands of the UK economy as to what happens but the gorvernment could help with a bail out.

But what ever happens hang in there.

The Landy Mann

As promised I bring to you some things that we may be able to look forward to in 2009:

  • LRX in production
  • LRO Show 09
  • TD4_E
  • SVX Getting a soft top!

The LRX may not be so likely due to the recession but we can hope.

The LRO show will be popular as ever with people trying to get away even for a few days if their holiday aboard wasn’t possible due to the exchange rate.

The TD4_E will have to happen to keep the freelander having cheaper tax and therefore more people will buy it.

The SVX needs a soft top if Land Rover are actually going to sell it.

So what ever happens we can be quietly confident about next year.

What is your new years resolution going to be? – That is the clew for my next post!

Yes it has got to that time of year – although you wouldn’t have thought it from the weather – I even manged to sneak in a skill full bike ride. But the real question is what has changed from last year? Well Land Rover are now owned by TATA and despite having a record year are set to lose money and get a bail out from the UK government. The G4 challenge has been canceled so what is there to look forward to? Well my post next week will reveal all…

Merry Christmas

…for the annual migration of Land Rover enthusiasts to Petobough for the LRO show. This means not only will there be lots of banter but many hands to help when your diff leaks sills its oil on the grass. But it also means that there will be lots of people away from the LRO forum so I may get some more time to post on here! If you have any pictures or want a shout out on my blog email: landymann@gmail.com.

I wish any one going a safe journey and a good time.

Lots of things have happend with Land Rover this year from the sale from ford to Tata and the 60th Anerversary Celebrations. The usual shows are on – Billing (LRM), Petoborugh (LRO), Abindon (LRE/Frogs 4×4) and there has also been the Heritage run / show at Gaydon. So it has proved to be an exiting year so far. With an eariler post about Santana’s being the way forward I belive that a TATA landrover may be better but Santana has changed to the Iveco Massif (http://www.massif.iveco.com/). We are also hereing rumors of a hilux style Land Rover (http://www.lro.com/news.php?page=1&sid=169) that may replace the Defender.

We live in intresting times!

After a month of not posting I resume again. Land Rover is now owned by someone who understands the company and how it developed! I think some of you may like the fledgling website http://www.land-rover-sales.com/.

Until the next post

The term gas guzzler is wrong for several reasons-

  1. Gas is American for petrol
  2. Gas when referring to cars is meaning LPG which is in fact better than petrol
  3. If we use it to mean petrol why are diesel land rovers ‘gas guzzlers?
  4. Land Rovers don’t guzzle they just sip it rather allot!
